The taste test, doesn’t all noni juice taste the same?
No one is going to pretend that Noni juice is the nicest tasting thing in the world. Related to the coffee plant noni plants also contain the bitter compounds that give one of the world’s favourite drinks its characteristic taste. Although doesn’t it sometimes seem that the better something is for you the worst it tastes? Plus all those lovely tasting things we crave, we know they’re not good for us.
Like any fruit, noni fruit goes through stages of ripening. Green or only just ripened fruit will taste more acidic, some describing it as a vinegar-like taste, whilst older fruits will taste more pungent. Unlike other fruits that have been selectively bred for taste or to last a long period of time after being picked, noni fruits will degrade swiftly once they are ripe, leading to an unpleasant taste and an even worse odour. The fruit will ferment swiftly, especially if stored in vats to try and press the last remnants out of the crop.
Our solution to this is to pick the crop at its peak. When the sun has swelled each fruit full of natural sugars and they are at the height of taste. We don’t need to send our fruit miles and store it for weeks, instead, we can pasteurise and bottle the juice straight away and store it in glass bottles to ensure it doesn’t start to ferment. We know you want only the best, and we provide only the best we possibly can. We make sure that the fruit is given every chance to be the luxury product you deserve at every stage.
Just like with other fruits there are different varieties and locations. Some say that the noni fruits from the eastern parts of the pacific are larger, if that’s the case we think that the best thing comes in smaller packages. It’s not just us that think that. As far back as the 1970s, researchers studying noni fruit reported that Tahitian noni juice has a milder and more palatable flavour.
All together we do everything in our power to ensure you get the best tasting juice possible. But you still may find it a little unpalatable, but it’s like it’s relative coffee, the more you drink it the more accustomed you become. You may even get to like the taste, or not. But it’s still delivering a little punch of antioxidants every time you drink it.
One question we do get asked is should you mix noni juice with other juices to make it taste better. Our answer is sure, if you think that’s more likely to get you drinking noni juice go for it. But we do believe that the potency of our juice lies in the fact it’s pure.
However, if you drink noni juice rest assured that you’re getting all the goodness of that little fruit packed into a powerful juice, and you can rest assured knowing it’s doing your body good.
